The S&P 500 Index fell 2.5% on Wednesday, bringing the year’s decline
to 7.5%.
Oil prices were volatile, and even though West Texas crude for March
delivery CLG6, +0.39% rose 0.9% to $30.72 a barrel, Brent
crude LCOH6, -2.36% dipped below $30 briefly before closing at
$30.29, for a drop of 2.1%.
But oil isn’t the only problem, as investors look at what is likely to
be a disappointing earnings season.
It’s been a rough ride so far this year, with the S&P 500 down 7.5%.
